Just 5 minutes south, the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area is home to Oregon's tallest lighthouse, visible from our beach. Features a surprisingly excellent museum, wildlife trails, and great spots to see harbor seals and sea birds.

๐๏ธ Lighthouse Tours
Climb the 114 steps to the top of Oregon's tallest lighthouse (93 feet). Built in 1873, it's still an active aid to navigation.
๐ฆญ Harbor Seals
Watch harbor seals lounging on the rocks at Cobble Beach. Bring binoculars for the best views.
๐ฆ Seabird Colonies
The headland hosts nesting Common Murres, Cormorants, and Pigeon Guillemots. Peak viewing in spring and summer.
๐ฆ Tide Pools
Cobble Beach offers excellent tide pooling at low tide. The unique round cobblestones make it one of Oregon's most distinctive beaches.
Interpretive Center
The surprisingly excellent interpretive center features exhibits on lighthouse history, local marine life, and Native American heritage. Free with park admission ($7/vehicle).
Getting There
Yaquina Head is just a 5-minute drive south from our house. Take Highway 101 south and follow the signs. The park is open daily, and lighthouse tours are available seasonally.
