Birding
A birder's paradise on the central Oregon Coast
The central Oregon coast is a birder's paradise—shorebirds, seabirds, raptors, and migratory species year-round. Yaquina Head and the Otter Rock Marine Reserve are prime spots for observing diverse bird life.
What You'll See
🐦 Seabirds
Common Murres, Pigeon Guillemots, Cormorants, and Puffins nest on coastal rocks and cliffs. Best viewing at Yaquina Head.
🦅 Raptors
Bald Eagles, Osprey, and Peregrine Falcons patrol the coast year-round. Watch for them hunting over the beaches.
🐔 Shorebirds
Sandpipers, Plovers, Turnstones, and Oystercatchers work the beaches and rocky intertidal zones.
🦆 Waterfowl
Scoters, Loons, and Grebes offshore. Herons and Egrets in the bays and estuaries.
